Beach Accommodation Crete - we have travelled from Elafonisi Beach in the west to Vai Beach in the east - from tip to tip of Crete.
Here we give you our suggestions of where to stay, close to your favourite beach in Crete.
For the beautiful beaches around Kissamos Bay and Balos Lagoon we suggest the budget option - Apartments Delfini across the road from a tiny beach just out of town. Best to have a vehicle to stay here.
To visit all the beaches near Palaiochora you need a good long holiday. Stay close to the village and walk everywhere. Choose the Aris Hotel for good family atmosphere and attentive service.
Staying at Maleme Beach, you will have plenty of cafes, bars, tavernas and restaurants to choose from, save on accommodation costs by choosing the budget Summer Lodge, set just a little back from the beach. Catch the bus here easily.
Staying in Sougia is peaceful. This tiny little beach is remote and quiet. Galini Studios are a comfortable choice, ideal for walkers along the coastal paths, rest with tranquillity all around.
Staying at Agia Marina Beach, you will never lack for beach activities, water sports like Stand Up Paddle and even surfing and you will be minutes from the capital town of Chania. Stay at the stylish Vergina Beach Hotel.
If you have walked down Samaria Gorge or taken a ferry to Agia Roumeli, or perhaps you are walking the coastal E4 route, your stay at the Gigilos Hotel will be enjoyable right on the beach, which is quiet after all the day trekkers have left.
In the tiny seaside village of Loutro stay at Villa Niki which is a delightful little pension. Walk here along the E4 path or via Aradena Gorge, or walk or take a ferry from Chora Sfakion, there are no roads and no cars here. Relax in one of the prettiest villages in Crete.
At Stavros Beach you can dance in the footsteps of Zorba, eat at beachside tavernas and be very close to the old town of Chania. Stay at Skamagkas Apartments where the family will look after you.
Beach Accommodation Crete - in Frangokastello in the south of Rethymnon, meet ghosts and history at pretty beaches. Stay at the affordable Flisvos Rooms - 50 metres from the sea and easy on the budget. 'flis-vos' is the sound the soft waves make on the shoreline as they roll back and forth. Hear the waves from your room.
At Georgioupolis enjoy the river, the cutest little chapel in Crete and a 9 km wide sandy beach. Stay at the budget Poseidon Studios with beach frontage.
In Plakias Beach, just across a small local road from the beach, are the beautiful Plakias Suites. Self-contained, perfect for a romantic holiday, and a short walk from wonderful tavernas, enjoy this fabulous beach, and peaceful quiet area with stunning scenery.
Walk to Preveli Beach from Dionysos Rooms and enter a wonderworld of palm grove, river lagoon and beach. This small guesthouse provides peaceful surrounds with complete sea views. A good budget choice.
At Agia Fotini Beach you will find the tiny rent rooms at Taverna Fotia, a world away from everywhere surrounded by blue.
On Rethymnon Town Beach you will find stunning resorts and small family-run places as well as the exquisite spa resort at Caramel Boutique Resort right on the beach.
At Kokkinos Pirgos Beach in southern Heraklion you will be at a long, wide and sandy beach, close to the ancient sites of Phaistos, Gortys and many other lovely beaches. Stay beachside at the Lidia Beach Suites.
At the extraordinary Matala Beach stay next to the harbour at this Matala Caves Seafront Apartment with the wickedest view.
At Agia Pelagia Beach be sure to stay close to the water and not up one of the steep hills that surroud the bay. Andy's Plaza is a budget option in close and flat walking distance to the beach and tavernas.
At Ammoudara Beach you can relax in comfort close to the beach at the Georgia's Garden Hotel, just 7 km from the capital, Heraklion.
In the hamlet of Plaka, gaze across the bay to Spinalonga Island from The Island Sea View Apartment. Ideal for couples, this accommodation welcomes 3 guests in comfort.
Relax in the restored windmill by the water just outside Sitia town. The Sitia Windmill will surprise and delight you with plenty of room for 4 guests.

Take a 1 hour flight from Athens to Heraklion with Aegean Airlines or Olympic Air, with many flights available per day.
