Paralia Kourna

Hi Team, my cousins have decided we will visit Crete from 13th to 19th August. They have booked us to stay in Paralia Kourna. We are 2 families of 4 each. Kids are 11 to 16.

What would you recommend we do from that base??

Crete Greece - Lake Kournas

Sure Lake Kournas is located just inland from the beach near the north coast of Crete and in between the towns of Chania and Rethymnon.

Swimming, canoeing, paddle boating and hiring SUPs will give you many enjoyable days at the lake side. There are also tavernas on the lake shore.

Looking further afield you can visit the beach village of Georgioupolis with a lovely long beach, harbour and smaller beach of Kalyvaki.

The towns of Chania and Rethymnon will be easy to visit from here, explore the history, culture, cafes and tavernas and shopping.

An enjoyable trip further inland to Agiroupolis, perhaps to a traditional taverna, would also be a good idea. The village has cooling waterfalls.

You could take a day tour to walk the Samaria Gorge or walk Agia Irini Gorge independently.

The whole family might enjoy a day out at the water park at Limnoupolis near Chania.
