Which Luxury Hotel In Elounda
by Tired Mother of Three
Hello, we would like to make a last minute booking to Crete at the end of the month, and are a bit confused by the several Elounda hotels.
We would like to splurge and relax in maximum luxury, bearing in mind we have three children ages 4 to 12.
Which of the Elounda hotels would you recommend? The Peninsula, the Mare or the Porto?
Are they all part of the same group?
Thank you!
Luxury in Elounda Crete
It is a much of a much, they are all large luxury resorts on the water’s edge on the beautiful Elounda Bay.
More about Elounda Beach here...Beautiful Elounda Village info here...Yes, they are all owned by Elounda SA Hotels and Resorts, a private company employing 200 to 500 employees, based in Elounda. They are all great for kids.
One point of difference, the Porto Elounda has the Six Senses spa, which recently won an award for Best Spa in Greece, so perhaps think about yourself a bit and treat yourself there. Choose from massages, body treatments or facials. Why not try the bio-olive or tomato treatments, or how about the 'Wine Elixir'or 'Queen Bee Face'? There are yoga, detox and wellness programs, you can do fitness with a private trainer, or just relax with an aromatherapy massage.
For kids the Porto Elounda has 'Soccer the Arsenal Way', swimming, tennis, wakeboard, golf and sailing, all supervised of course. Teenagers can do tennis lessons, sailing lessons and go water skiing. There is a teenage area for the evenings too, within online access. Young ones can be looked after in the creche.
With eight restaurants and four lounge bars, you will have plenty of dining choices at the Porto Elounda. This large resort offers variety like Aglio e Olio serving Italian cuisine, Odysseus offering Greek favourites, and many other options.
We just did a quick check on rates for late August and the Porto came up cheapest.
A smaller, more affordable hotel to consider is
Elounda Palm, although it is not a luxury hotel.
Also consider the beautiful and private
Almond Tree Villa in Elounda.

Agios Nikolaos, with loads of things to see and do...
Also, you may want to take the kids on a boat trip to see
Spinalonga Island, which can be arranged by your resort or from Elounda harbour...
